In the Clinch - Jamahal Hill Believes His Time is Now, UFC 283In the Clinch – Jamahal Hill Believes His Time is Now, UFC 283What a difference a couple of years makes for UFC 283 light heavyweight title contender Jamahal Hill.

Making his UFC debut in January 2020 after receiving the call from the Dana White Contender Series in 2019, Hill (11-1-0, 1NC), 31, has worked his way up through the division, racking up five wins against a single loss and a no-contest learning experience that should have been a victory.

Each fight has shown an increased striking skillset backed up by a mature intelligence to set up his opponent and capitalize. This was evident in his last fight against veteran Thiago Santos, a man who has competed against the best at 205 pounds.

On Saturday, Hill steps into the octagon against former champion and current No. 2 Glover Teixeira (33-8-0), 43, at UFC 283. Teixeira made history when he won the belt and is training with middleweight champion Alex Pereira for the fight. Armed with veteran trainer John Hackleman, Teixeira will be ready and looking to get the fight to the ground.

We haven’t really seen Hill’s ground game and he doesn’t have a single submission win in his career. So, it’s not surprising that he needs to be extremely prepared with good takedown defense. If it does go to the ground, get back up and continue to chip away.

Hill and his team know this. They have been training for the ground. We’ll see what tricks they have in store for Teixeira there.

Both Teixeira and Hill have lots of motivation coming into the fight. The older lion will try and repel the younger lion. It should be a good battle with the fight being in the older lion’s home den of Brazil.

Hill has said his time is now. This is indeed what sweet dreams are made of.
