There is also some momentum for Moicano outside of the octagon. His ‘Money Moicano’ podcast is picking up some traction. He talks about finances, something you don’t hear every day from a fighter.
In the meantime, Moicano has shown some impressive striking to complement his already dangerous ground game.
UFC Paris will be Moicano’s third fight this year. He understands the clock is ticking and while he respects Benoit Saint Denis, he knows he can take advantage of his aggressiveness and get the tap.
Yes, the No. 12 Saint Denis(13-2-0, 1NC), 28, lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 in March, but he did well in the first round. He kept coming at Poirier even when he was hurt and paid
the price. I think he will continue to be aggressive Saturday night and try to establish the striking advantage.
But Saint Denis can go to the ground too. And so, I think this fight is fairly even on paper. Though, Saint Denis will have the hometown advantage.
Moicano will want to drag the fight to the ground and Saint Denis will want to end this on the feet. The winner is probably at least two fights away from a potential title shot in the tightly contested lightweight division.
Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev defended the belt in June against Poirier and will most likely face No. 1 Arman Tsarukyan next.
The fans in Paris will be cheering Saint Denis on, but I expect Moicano to be well prepared for the challenge.
Let’s get it.
