Leaf Goes Retro, Releases 2013 Memories Baseball Set

Leaf Releases 2013 Memories Baseball with Prized Memorabilia Redemption Cards Included

Just like the name implies, the set is full of autographed and unsigned buyback cards featuring Leaf sets from yesteryear

Leaf Goes Retro, Releases 2013 Memories Baseball Set – Carrollton, TX (Nov. 7, 2013) – Going retro is certainly a popular theme these days and Leaf’s latest effort is no exception to that trend. This week, Leaf’s 2013 Memories Baseball collection packs out and is filled with tribute cards saluting Leaf baseball cards from years gone by as well as cards of today’s top prospects sporting retro designs.

“There is such a rich history with Leaf baseball cards that we just wanted to pay homage to some of the top cards from yesteryear by actually including buyback cards from some of those glory sets,” said Leaf President Brian Gray.

Being innovative means upping the ante from time to time and that’s just what Leaf has done. Not only will collectors find buyback cards from previous years’ sets spanning 1985 to 1992, but they will also find on-card autographs gracing many of those cards featuring baseball superstars such as Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan, Rickey Henderson, Edgar Martinez, Frank Thomas, Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Fred Lynn, Roger Clemens, Dale Murphy and Will Clark. What’s more, every base-level parallel autographed card is crash-numbered to the featured player’s jersey number so there’s rarity to drive the value of every box. Dale Murphy (jersey No. 3) and Molitor (No. 4) lead the way.

Keeping current is also on Leaf’s radar as is evident by its inclusion of “Leaf Memories” on-card autographs spotlighting the top picks in the 2013 Baseball Draft. Standouts like Mark Appel and Kris Bryant top the list and each of the cards is designed to mirror Leaf’s 1990 baseball effort. A pair of top prospects from Cuba, Jose Abreu and Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, are also part of the mix.

One more cherry to look for within this set will be randomly inserted redemption cards good for choice Leaf Authentics memorabilia items ranging from signed bats from Frank Thomas and Jason Heyward to a baseball signed by the Commander-in-Chief himself, Barack Obama!

Each box includes 13 quality cards: one 1991 Leaf Buyback base card (numbered to /5 or /1); six Leaf Memories prospects base cards; five Leaf Memories draft/prospects autographed cards; and either one Leaf Memories Buyback autographed card or one memorabilia redemption card.
