MLB Future Watch: Brennen Davis Baseball Cards, Chicago CubsMLB Future Watch: Brennen Davis Baseball Cards, Chicago CubsBrennen Davis was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the second round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. This 6’4”, 210-pound outfielder has a lot of promise and the fact he can play any of the outfield positions gives him the kind of versatility the Cubs will eventually value.

Brennen started rookie ball at the tender age of 18. Drafted out of high school, he hit .298 with 6 stolen bases in 2018. He only played in 18 games.

In 2019, he played for the South Bend Cubs in A-Ball. In 177 at-bats, Davis had 9 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs with 30 RBI and a .305 batting average, and a cool .381 on-base percentage. That was a heck of a season for him.

Davis was on the 40-man roster, so he reported to the Cubs’ Alternate Training Site in 2020 during the pandemic. He was 20 at the time and the club wanted him to continue with his workout routine for strength and conditioning. That season wasn’t a total loss for him as a result.

In 2021, Davis rose from A+ to AA to AAA playing for the Iowa Cubs. In 100 games, his combined numbers were 25 doubles, 19 home runs and 53 RBI, 8 steals, and a .375 on-base percentage. Another year of growth for a prospect whom the Cubs had high hopes for.

2022 was a mixed year for Davis. He started out in A+ ball, for more at-bats presumably. Then he went back to AAA. His combined numbers were 6 doubles, 5 home runs, and 17 RBI. He only played in 53 games because of a nerve issue in his back that affected him and was corrected.

In 2023, Davis is back at it. He was optioned to Iowa. He’s fielding great and now the Cubs are waiting for him to blossom once again. This player has talent so keep him on your watch list for sure. The Cubs are still high on him, and he’s now recovered from his previous ailment.MLB Future Watch: Brennen Davis Baseball Cards, Chicago Cubs
