MLB Future Watch: Carson Williams Baseball Cards, Tampa Bay RaysMLB Future Watch: Carson Williams Baseball Cards, Tampa Bay Rays – The Tampa Bay Rays drafted Carson Williams with the 28th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Amateur Draft. This 6’2” shortstop was a star at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California.

As a junior in high school, he hit .320 in a pandemic-shortened season. In 2020-21, he played in 31 games as a senior, and he hit 10 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs, and 35 RBI with 42 runs scored and a .495 batting average.

After the draft, Williams played in Rookie-Ball. He hit 4 doubles, 1 triple, eight RBI, two stolen bases, and a .282 batting average.

In 2022, he played for the Charleston RiverDogs in A-Ball. In 113 games, he hit 22 doubles, 10 triples, 19 home runs and 70 RBI with 28 stolen bases a .347 on-base percentage, and a better .471 slugging percentage.

2023 was a big year for this top prospect. He started the season in A+ ball and ended it in AAA with the Durham Bulls. His combined numbers were 18 doubles, 7 triples, 23 home runs, and 77 RBI with 17 stolen bases. His .351 on-base percentage and .506 slugging percentage were off the charts. His 147 strikeouts were too much and something he could work on.

In 2024, he was set to play a full season in AA. That’s not a demotion. Many players can go straight from AA to the big leagues. His numbers were very good; 20 home runs, 6 triples, 20 home runs 69 RBI, and 33 stolen bases. His .353 on-base percentage and .469 slugging percentage were excellent, and 83 runs scored in 115 games was an eye-opener.
