When he turned 18, he enrolled in James Madison University to play baseball. His first year was during the 2020 pandemic. DeLauter played in 16 games hitting 7 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run while driving in 14 with 7 stolen bases. His .382 batting average and .455 on-base percentage made that season a great one.
His sophomore season was more representative. DeLauter hit 12 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs with 21 RBI and seven stolen bases. His .386 batting average and .508 on-base percentage were elite.
His junior year would be his last. DeLauter hit 8 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, had 35 RBI and 10 stolen bases. His .437 batting average and .576 on-base percentage are impressive at any level let alone college. He was set up for success in the draft.
In 2023, he played for three teams starting in Rookie Ball and ending up playing for the Akron RubberDucks in AA. His combined numbers were 22 doubles, 5 home runs, 39 RBI, and 6 stolen bases. His .355 batting average and .415 on-base percentage tracked with what he was able to produce in college.
2024 was a good year. DeLauter made it to AAA to play for the Columbus Clippers. Multiple injuries kept him from getting more at-bats. He hit 10 doubles, 8 homers 24 RBI and a .261 batting average with a .342 on-base percentage.
MLB Future Watch: Chase DeLauter Baseball Cards Worth Chasing
One card to get is DeLauter’s 2022 Bowman Blue Wave Refractor Autograph. It’s numbered to just 150 and the autograph is nice and clear.
His 2024 Bowman Sterling Autograph card looks to be on the card. It’s a very nice short-printed card that shows him batting.
The last card to get is his 2022 1st Bowman Draft Autographed Rookie. The card has a nice design and that sleek Bowman look. It’s good to get in on the ground floor of one of the Guardians’ top prospects.
