MLB Future Watch: Darell Hernaiz Baseball Cards, Baltimore Orioles – Darell Hernaiz was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. This talented shortstop could be a part of the Orioles organization for a long time if everything breaks right.

In 2019, he played in Rookie Ball. He hit 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, and 8 RBI with 5 steals and an excellent .371 on-base percentage. Hernaiz only played in 29 games, but it was a start.

In 2020 during the height of the pandemic, Hernaiz reported to spring training. It was a big deal for the prospect, but he didn’t make the team. He was sent down to be a part of the instructional league.

In 2021, the baseball landscape was better compared to 2020. For starters, he got to play in 94 games for the Delmarva Shorebirds in A-Ball. In 372 at-bats, he got 103 hits with 12 doubles and six home runs with 52 RBI and 22 steals with a .277 batting average.

2022 was set to be a year of big growth for the 21-year-old infielder. He started out the year back in A-Ball. Then he went to A+ ball and played for the Aberdeen IronBirds. He finished out the year in AA playing for the Bowie Baysox. His combined numbers were 21 doubles, 5 triples, 12 home runs, 62 RBI with 32 steals, and a .273 batting average with a .341 on-base percentage.

Hernaiz has good power and can go the other way. His home run stroke should pick up. That may happen in the next year or two. Getting a shortstop with power can really be a great boost to a team that already played above expectations in 2022. He should be there in a few seasons.

The first card to get is his 2022 Bowman Chrome 1st. It’s a nice shiny card that shows Hernaiz in a spring training number getting ready to take a few swings. I like the anticipation of the photo.

The next card could be Hernaiz’s 2022 Bowman Chrome 1st Autograph. The autograph is a good one, and it’s a good way to get in on the ground floor of a potential star.

One last card could be his 2022 Topps Pro Debut. This card shows him in his Delmarva uniform at bat waiting for his pitch. It’s a very desirable card.
