MLB Future Watch: Daz Cameron Baseball Cards, Detroit Tigers – Daz Cameron, drafted by the Houston Astros in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft is still honing his skills. This second-generation talent does play the outfield like his father, Mike Cameron, who had a great major league baseball career.
He starred at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia. Cameron hit .392 as a freshman. It’s safe to say that the talent runs in the family. After hitting .434 in his sophomore season, colleges were looking at him, eventually earning him a baseball scholarship at Florida State University.
Cameron struggled for a couple of seasons in the Astros farm system, and as part of the Justin Verlander trade, he went to the Detroit Tigers in August of 2017. It was a fresh start for the highly touted prospect.

In 2018, Cameron started in advanced A-ball, then he went to AA with the Erie SeaWolves, and finished out the season with the Toledo Mud Hens in AAA. The totals were eight home runs, 61 RBI with 24 steals. The Tigers were fine with playing the long game with this prospect since they didn’t have the same kind of playoff aspirations the Astros did, and they got a future starter as a result.
The younger Cameron looks like his dad at the plate. His bat explodes through the zone with power, and he runs the bases with great ease. In the outfield, he has range and a strong throwing arm. This is the kind of player the Tigers need to get their team back on track.
In his second season with Toledo in 2019, the prospect hit 13 home runs with 43 RBI. 2020 was a tough year. He was at the alternate site and then played 17 games for the big club.
Cameron played the majority of the 2021 season in Toledo. He was going to patrol center field and right field at Comerica Park in June and then later in the season again. His power started to come through, and that opened in Toledo, and his batting average rose. He should be a regular next season.
The Topps Fire autographed rookie card of Cameron is a piece of art. The colors are vibrant, and his batting stance and eyes on the ball make it a nice one to get.
His 2021 Topps Chrome autographed rookie card is a solid, sharp card to shoot for.
Finally, Cameron’s 2021 Topps Stadium Club rookie card is clean, and it’s a great action shot of him chasing down a fly ball. He’ll be doing that for a long time to come.
