After the draft the backstop had a chance to play Rookie-Ball and hit 7 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, a .291 batting average with 3 stolen bases. That was a good way to dip his toe into professional baseball.
In 2022, he played for the Modesto Nuts in A-Ball. He played in 104 games. In 390 at-bats, he hit 23 doubles, 4 triples, 11 home runs with 65 RBI and 23 stolen bases. When you factor in a .425 on-base percentage and 89 runs scored, this was a banner year.
In 2023, he played with the Everett AquaSox and improved on the season in A+ ball. He hit 24 doubles, 4 triples, 15 home runs with 67 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 89 runs scored.
In 2024, Ford played in 116 games. He started to branch out and played 8 games in left field and four at designated hitter. Teams want to get his bat into the lineup when he’s not catching, and he didn’t make an error in the outfield. At the plate, he hit 26 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs with 45 RBI with 35 stolen bases and 72 runs scored with a .377 on-base percentage for AA Arkansas. At 21, he was a step closer to the big leagues.
