MLB Future Watch: Jonah Heim Baseball Cards, Texas RangersMLB Future Watch: Jonah Heim Baseball Cards, Texas Rangers – Jonah Heim was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 4th round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft. This 6’4”, 220-pound catcher has some power and a good throwing arm, two key elements needed for success at the catcher position in major league baseball. His journey to finding a home in Texas has been an interesting one for sure.

From 2013-2017, he had been playing for two teams a season. In August of 2016, he was traded to Tampa. Oakland then acquired him in a trade in December of 2017, where he came off a season of nine homers and 61 RBI combined in various levels of A-Ball.

In 2018, he made it to the Midland Rockhounds after he slugged seven homers with 49 RBI in 80 games in advanced A-Ball. He started in Midland in 2019 and made it to Las Vegas to play for the Aviators. Heim ended that season with 21 doubles, nine home runs, and 53 RBI. He played 12 games with the A’s in 2020. He had five RBI. However, what opened eyes was him throwing out 60% of baserunners.

In February of 2021, he was traded to the Texas Rangers in the Elvis Andrus, Aramis Garcia deal. Heim played in 82 games this past season, and he hit ten home runs with 32 RBI, and he threw out the league average 23% of baserunners. The Buffalo native also lived out his dream going 1-3 in the night game of a doubleheader that was played in Saleh Field in Buffalo, NY, when the Rangers played the Blue Jays. In late July he hit home runs from both sides of the plate.

Heim has a smooth swing that gets through the zone quickly. He calls a good game and is a good fielder. He’s a late bloomer, not uncommon at the catcher position.

One card that is a must collect is his 2021 Topps Series 2 Rookie. He’s shown in his Texas Rangers catcher’s gear about to make a throw, probably to try and gun out a would-be base stealer.

Heim’s 2021 Topps Chrome Autographed Rookie Card shows him in his A’s gear in a candid situation, and the signature is on-card, so this one could be in demand at some point.

His 2021 Topps Gypsy Queen is a striking-looking card. The design is great, and the image shows some tattoos and his mask in great detail. This is a fun baseball card, and baseball and collecting should be fun.
