MLB Future Watch: Josh Lowe Baseball Cards, Tampa Bay Rays – Josh Lowe was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays as the 13th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. He’s a 6’4” outfielder, and his brother, Nathaniel, is a solid major league player. Both of those are clear reasons to make the pick. It took some of the risk out of it.
Right after the draft, he played for two different rookie ball teams. He had 6 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs, and 26 RBI. It was a good start to what could be a long major league career.
In 2017, he played for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in A-ball. Lowe hit 26 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs, and 55 RBI with 22 steals. It was a solid year to build from.
In 2018, he moved up to A+ ball to play for the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Lowe had another good year with 25 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs, and 47 RBI with 18 steals. He is a run producer like his brother.
Lowe graduated to AA in 2019 playing for the Montgomery Biscuits. He hit 23 doubles, 4 triples, and 18 home runs with 62 RBI and 30 steals. The power got better, and he filled in a lot of blanks on the scorecards.
In 2020 during the pandemic, he was at the Rays Alternate Training Site. It was a lost year of development.
He made his major league debut in 2021. While he only played in two games, he did get a hit and a steal. The Rays are a good team, so he needs to find playing time. He played most of the season in AAA for the Durham Bulls. Lowe hit 28 doubles, 2 triples, and 22 home runs with 78 RBI and 26 steals.
In 2022, he played in AAA and the big leagues. For Durham, Lowe hit 27 doubles, 2 triples, and 14 home runs with 67 RBI in just 80 games. In the majors, he had 12 doubles, 2 triples. 2 home runs with 13 RBI, and 3 steals. Lowe has power. He’s a must-collect.
