MLB Future Watch: Kahlil Watson Baseball Cards, Miami MarlinsMLB Future Watch: Kahlil Watson Baseball Cards, Miami Marlins – Kahlil Watson was drafted by the Miami Marlins with the 16th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Amateur Draft. This 5’9” shortstop is a terrific athlete, and he got a chance to shine at Wake Forest.

In 2017-18, his freshman season, he hit .389 plus 2 home runs and 22 RBI in 20 games. His 17 steals really stood out! It was a good way to get started in a very good baseball program.

In 2018-19, Watson hit a staggering .589 with 18 extra-base hits with 23 RBI in just 90 at-bats. That’s very productive. His 26 steals were a huge jump as well.

His 2019-20 season was shortened to just 5 games because of Covid-19. The 2020-21 season was shortened as well. He got to play in 15 games, and he made the most of his time. Watson hit .513 with six home runs, 24 runs scored, and a staggering .655 on-base percentage in 39 at-bats.

After the draft, Watson played Rookie Ball to finish out the 2021 season. In 9 games, he hit .394 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 4 steals.

Watson started the 2022 season in Single-A ball with the Jupiter Hammerheads but found himself in Rookie Ball once again. He had a conduct issue and was demoted. In his first 60 games in Single-A, Watson hit 12 doubles, 8 home runs, 38 RBI, and 12 steals. At that point in the season, he never got caught stealing.

Watson has great bat speed and an emerging power. He has some maturing to do, but the Marlins have a potential star in the making who is worth collecting. Best to start now before he gets called up, which could be in a few more seasons.

Watson’s 2022 Bowman Chrome Rookie Card is a well-designed card that shows him at the plate getting ready to hit one a long way.

A cool card is his 2022 Bowman In 3D Aqua Refractor. It’s a wild, futuristic looking card. Watson is again pictured at the plate in that classic Marlins uniform.

Lastly, his 2022 Bowman Top 100 Prospects Refractor. It is hard to get but worth it. It has multi-colored foil, and it shows him making a play at shortstop. That’s a nice change of pace to see that kind of photo. This player will be worth the wait.
