MLB Future Watch: Ryan Vilade Baseball Cards, Colorado Rockies – Ryan Vilade was drafted by the Colorado Rockies with the 48th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. This 6’2”, 226-pound player has a lot of talent. The Rockies are sticking with this work in progress because of his upside.
The Texas native starred at Frisco High School. In 2016, while playing in the Under Armour All-America Game, he participated in the home run derby, winning it with 18 home runs.
In 2017, Vilade got into 33 games in Rookie Ball. He hit 5 home runs, drove in 21, and swiped 5 bases.
In 2018, with the Asheville Tourists in A-Ball, Vilade broke out with 20 doubles, 4 triples, 5 home runs, 44 RBI, and a .274 batting average. His on-base percentage was .353, a gift of his for sure.
In 2019, while playing for the Lancaster JetHawks in high A-Ball, Vilade crushed 27 doubles, 10 triples, 12 home runs, 71 RBI, 24 steals, and a .303 batting average. What a season.
This prospect has a level, compact swing that he will hit to all fields. He may not have tremendous home run power, but he’s a run producer. That’s where he can help the Rockies.
2020 was a tough year for Vilade. He did get his major league debut in LF going 0-4. After that, he got two more at-bats, then went back to the alternate training site for the rest of the season.
In 2021, he played for the Albuquerque Isotopes in AAA. Once again, his numbers were good. Vilade hit 28 doubles, 5 triples, and 7 home runs with 44 RBI and a .284 batting average. Considering he lost a year of development that was solid.
After attending training camp in 2022, Vilade was back in AAA. Once again, he was making great contact and having a similar year to 2021. He did have a slight injury, but my guess is he will get a September call up, if not sooner. At 23, he could break out with some playing time.
MLB Future Watch: Ryan Vilade Baseball Cards Worth Chasing
One card collectors could get is Vilade’s 2022 Bowman Rookie. He’s watching where his ball was hit, and his hair is spilling out of his baseball cap.
A big hit would be his 2022 Topps Inception Patch Rookie Autograph. He has a good-looking signature, and that helps.
His 2022 Topps Series 2 Rookie Card is a well-done card showing him in pinstripes.
