MLB Future Watch: Victor Labrada Baseball Cards, Seattle Mariners – Victor Labrada signed an international contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2019. He was 19 at that time, and he was given a $350,000 bonus. The Mariners saw something in the Cuban slugger and were hoping it would pay off soon. He was signed two days before the MLB-Cuba baseball agreement expired. Timing is everything in life.
Labrada played for Cuba’s U-18 National Team which won the Pan-American games in 2018. Hitting a home run in his first at-bat led to some extra hype. He did hit .350 in a seven-game span during that tournament and showed a plus arm in the outfield. Showing leadership capabilities, he was captain of the team.
Like many others, Labrada didn’t play minor league baseball in 2020 due to the pandemic.
In 2021, he started playing for the Modesto Nuts in A-Ball. In 50 games, he hit 16 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, and 28 RBI with a .294 batting average. He was then promoted to A+ Ball with the Everett AquaSox. In 49 games, Labrada hit 7 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs, and 27 RBI with 10 steals.
In 2022, he started with Modesto again and hit 5 doubles, 2 home runs, and 13 RBI with a .400 batting average. That got him promoted once again. He was back in Everett to finish out his season. In 401 at-bats, he hit 15 doubles, 6 triples, 12 home runs, and 44 RBI with 30 stolen bases late in the season. In late July, Labrada had a career-high 7 RBI game.
Mariners’ sensation, Julio Rodriguez beat Labrada in the 40-yard dash while in camp. It was a big deal since Labrada was the fastest guy in camp. At 22, he has a chance to be a star for the Mariners who are once again a playoff team.
MLB Future Watch: Victor Labrada Baseball Cards Worth Chasing
The first card to explore could be Labrada’s 2022 Bowman Chrome. It has a classic design, and he’s wearing a classic Mariners uniform.
Another cool card is his 2022 Bowman Chrome Sapphire Edition. It’s a high-risk, high-reward product. The cards have a great design and are very vibrant.
One last card would be his Bowman 1st. It’s a solid card that’s easier to acquire, and it’s a way to get multiple cards of this slam dunk prospect. In the next year or two, he will join Rodriguez in Seattle.
