Jenkins first starred at South Brunswick High School in North Carolina. At that time, he was 190 pounds. He did some pitching early on as well. As a sophomore, he hit four home runs and hit .437 but the best was yet to come. As a junior in 30 games, he hit 10 homers with 40 RBI, a .527 average with 49 runs scored. Then injuries kicked in at different times.
After the MLB Draft, the five-tool prospect played 14 games in Rookie-Ball. He hit 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs with 12 RBI, and 4 stolen bases. Jenkins had a .333 batting average and a .390 on-base percentage. He filled the stat sheet.
He finished out the 2023 season playing for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. In 12 games, he had 2 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, 10 RBI with two steals, a .392 batting average, and a .446 on-base percentage. It was another banner season for the Twins’ top prospect.
In 2024, he had a hamstring injury but still played for four teams starting in Rookie Ball and ending up in AA for the Wichita Wind Surge. His combined numbers were 22 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs, and 58 RBI with 17 stolen bases, a .394 on-base percentage, and a .282 batting average. Another solid season.
MLB Future Watch: Walker Jenkins Cards Worth Chasing
One card to get is Jenkins’ 2024 Bowman 1st. It’s a nice card that shows him hitting with his unusual batting stance. It has a classic design.
Another card to get is the 2024 Bowman Chrome Garbage Pail Kids version. This brings me back and it’s a cool collaboration and it’s a fun card of an up-and-coming player.
One last card is the 2024 Bowman 1st Paper version. It’s another card of a player who could be a Rookie of the Year candidate in due time. He has a great blend of power and speed.
