MLB Future Watch: William Lugo Baseball Cards, New York Mets – William Lugo was signed as a free agent by the New York Mets in the summer of 2018. He is a talented shortstop who has also shown versatility.
In 2019, he played Rookie-Ball and hit 6 doubles, 1 home run with 14 RBI and 14 runs scored in 43 games.
2020 was a completely lost year for him. He wasn’t a top draft pick, so he had to wait out the pandemic and re-start his career when it was over. A tough task for any young prospect.
In 2021, Lugo was back in Rookie-Ball. He hit 6 doubles, 6 home runs, and 22 RBI with five steals and 28 runs scored in 46 games. There was good progression for him.
2022 would be a big year for the infielder. He started it in A-Ball and surprised everyone with some power. He hit 18 doubles, 2 triples, 10 home runs with 45 RBI and 47 runs scored in 84 games. Then he got promoted to A+ ball with the Brooklyn Cyclones. He hit 7 doubles, 4 home runs and 18 RBI in just 28 games. That was a great season for the prospect.
In 2023, Lugo was back in Brooklyn, and he hit 18 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs and 53 RBI. He had 7 stolen bases and scored 41 runs. He started playing third base.
In 2024, he was back again, and playing more at third base. He hit 9 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs and 25 RBI with four stolen bases. He got hurt at the time of the year other players were getting promoted . So, that was bad timing there.
At 22, there is room for a third baseman at the major league level for the Mets. They have some young players trying to play there but nobody has sealed the deal just yet. That means there’s opportunity for Lugo in the future, but that is a few years away.

The first card to get is Lugo’s 1st Bowman Autograph. The orange version is a great color match, is numbered to just 25, and has a very nice signature.
Another cool card is his 2023 Bowman Inception Autograph. The Gold Foil electricity card has a great look and is numbered to just 50.
One last card would be his 2023 1st Bowman Paper. It’s a nice-looking card.
