MLB Future Watch: Zach McKinstry Baseball Cards, LA DodgersMLB Future Watch: Zach McKinstry Baseball Cards, LA Dodgers – Zach McKinstry is another very late round pick who has made it to the big leagues. The Dodgers selected him in the 33rd round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft, and he’s proven to be valuable. He’s a utility player with power and the ability to drive in runs.

During his two seasons at Michigan State, McKinstry hit .317 and .325. By 2017, McKinstry was already in AA. That season he was with three teams hitting 21 doubles, 4 home runs, driving in 39.

In 2018, he played for three teams again and hit 4 triples, 7 home runs with 24 RBI, and a .282 batting average. Once again, he continued to make strides.

2019 was a breakthrough year for this prospect. He finished out the season playing in AAA for the Oklahoma City Dodgers. With two teams McKinstry smacked 24 doubles, 6 triples, 19 home runs with 78 RBI, and a .300 batting average. He may have been ready to get promoted to the majors, but the pandemic hit.

In 2020, McKinstry was at the Dodgers alternate site, and he did make the show getting 7 at-bats with 2 hits. That’s not a bad way to break in and the utility man looked toward the 2021 season.

McKinstry played 40 games in AAA, hitting 7 homers with 21 RBI. The other 60 he played in Los Angeles. In the big leagues, he played second, third, left field, and right field. Hitting 7 home runs and 29 RBI in 60 games was valuable. He wasn’t on the postseason roster, but he was still a part of a winning organization who were World Champions in 2020. This player has speed, left-handed power, and a solid glove.

One cool card to get would be McKinstry’s 2021 Topps Stadium Club autographed rookie card. There is an on-card autograph and him holding up two fingers signifying two outs in the inning while in the field.

His  2021 Topps Heritage High Number Rookie is short printed, but it’s worth trying to find it with the posed photo that fits perfectly with the classic 1972 Topps design. There are a lot of variations out there too.

The final card to look for is McKinstry’s 2021 Topps Chrome Rookie. He’s shown in the field throwing the ball around. He has an interesting autograph, and his career is on the upswing, so ride the wave. You never know.
