NBA Future Watch: Ryan Dunn Basketball Cards, Phoenix Suns NBA Future Watch: Ryan Dunn Basketball Cards, Phoenix Suns – Ryan Dunn is well on his way to carving out a career that compares favorably to his late, great namesake, an MTV star of the 1990s and 2000s who ran with Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, and company. This Dunn matches the fearlessness of his forerunner with a defensive prowess that set him apart in the 2024 NBA Draft. He has given hope to the Phoenix Suns, after arguably their worst playoff crash in team history.

With a brother, Justin, who would go on to pitch in the MLB, Dunn grew up in a family that valued athletics. They also valued ethics, as evidenced by his work in soup kitchens and middle school mentoring. His high school and prep career included stops at Oak Hill Academy, his native Long Island Lutheran High School, and the Perkiomen School in Pennsylvania. Dunn cemented his four-star prospect status by leading the latter program to its first state championship appearance. Sifting through a number of large program offers, Dunn enrolled at Virginia.

NBA Future Watch: Ryan Dunn Basketball Cards, Phoenix Suns Coming off the bench as a freshman, Dunn’s opportunities to put up gaudy stats were limited. As a sophomore, Dunn was able to showcase his combo forward to a much greater degree. He posted 6.9 RPG, 2.3 BPG, 1.3 SPG and a stingy 0.8 TPG. Two key games against Louisville in January 2024 showed Dunn at his best. He had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks at home, then 19 points and 11 rebounds three weeks later.

Prized for his 7’1” wingspan, 38” vertical, defensive prowess, and elite rim-running, Dunn landed in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft with Phoenix via a trade with Denver. Dunn came into the league needing to polish his shooting and ballhandling, but he made an immediate impact in strength, reinforcing the team’s defensive backbone. By January 16, Dunn posted his first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He even replaced Bradley Beal in the starting lineup. The Suns threw Dunn into the fire and his response registered as very positive. Look for rapid acceleration into a very good NBA upside.

Dunn’s cards and stickers, dating to 2024, are under the Panini brand. They include parallels and inserts.
