NBA Future Watch: Ulrich Chomche Basketball Cards, Toronto Raptors – Ulrich Chomche is a trailblazer as the first Basketball Africa League player to be drafted to the NBA. A graduate of the NBA Academy Africa, Chomche was born in Bafang, Cameroon. He first picked up a basketball at age 11. Then, at 12, Chomche was admitted to the NBA Academy Africa.

Chomche joined the Basketball Africa League at age 16, suiting up for FAP under the BAL Elevate system. Still raw, Chomche helped FAP climb up to fourth place. Chomche had a milestone in his growth as a power forward/center hybrid on April 16, 2022 when he collected seven rebounds.

Chomche remained in BAL play in 2023 when he joined REG. He stayed in the league with APR in 2024. Another important milestone on Chomche’s road to the big time came in 2023 World Cup qualifiers, when he competed for Cameroon.

Sufficiently on the radar by this time, Chomche declared for the 2024 NBA Draft and ended up in Toronto via trade with Memphis. Chomche is already a top-notch rim runner and shot blocker with promising secondary playmaking skills. Shooting and ballhandling remain works in progress. As such, Chomche has done the bulk of his development with Raptors 905 in the G League. Presently recovering from a partial proximal MCL tear in his right knee, Chomche continues to show signs of becoming a formidable big man for Toronto in the years ahead.
