NBA Future Watch: Yves Missi Basketball Cards, New Orleans Pelicans – Yves Missi has demonstrated in a nightmare season for New Orleans that he is a definitive foundation piece moving forward. His textbook athleticism, size, and rim-running provide tantalizing hints of his future.

Born in Belgium, growing up in Cameroon, and moving to California for his prep play, Missi earned his way into top showcases: the Nike Hoop Summit and the GEICO High School Nationals. Missi also helped Pacific Prep to win the Grind Session World Championship and the John Wall Holiday Invitational.

Attaining five-star status, Missi enrolled at Baylor and made his presence felt with five double-doubles and KenPom Game MVP honors. Earning the attention of pro scouts, Missi declared for the 2024 NBA Draft and was snapped up by the Pelicans. Missi’s debut on October 23, 2024, provided just a taste of what’s to come: 12 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, an assist and a steal.

Missi is one of the best rookies thus far in this draft class, with 8.8 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 1.4 BPG and .556 FG%. Missi’s rebounding is raw even though his skills have room for refinement. That really indicates the sky is the limit in this area with further development. Missi’s relatively soft touch belies his shooting numbers, once again indicating how much better he can become. It’s the latter skill that will determine exactly how scary a force that Missi can become.
