NFL Future Watch: Cooper DeJean Football Cards, Philadelphia Eagles NFL Future Watch: Cooper DeJean Football Cards, Philadelphia Eagles – The Philadelphia Eagles selected cornerback Cooper DeJean with the 40th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This was deemed a terrific pick and the Eagles got instant dividends as their season rolled on.

DeJean played football, baseball, basketball, and track and field at Odebolt-Arthur-Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School in Odebolt, Iowa. Then he played his college football for the Hawkeyes. In 2021, as a true freshman, DeJean played in seven games. He only recorded four tackles because he mainly played on special teams. That’s what happens at a lot of big universities with storied football programs.

In 2022, he played mostly at cornerback and was returning punts as well. He had a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown that season. DeJean started 13 games getting 75 tackles, 56 of them solo. He added three tackles for a loss, 13 passes defended, five interceptions, and three touchdowns. He averaged 16.5 yards per punt return as well.

In 2023-24, he played in just 10 games. A fractured fibula ended his season in November. He still had 41 tackles, 26 of them solo, two tackles for a loss, seven passes defended, and two interceptions. He averaged 11.5 yards a punt return and scored a touchdown in this abbreviated season.

DeJean showed he was recovered by running a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. His 38.5” vertical leap and 16 reps on the weight bench were impressive. This helped his draft stock.

NFL Future Watch: Cooper DeJean Football Cards, Philadelphia Eagles DeJean had an amazing rookie season for the Eagles. He played in 16 games, starting in nine of them. He had six passes defended, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and 51 tackles. In the Super Bowl, he had a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Patrick Mahomes. It was a key moment, and he eventually became a champion.
