NFL Future Watch: Michael Carter Football Cards, New York Jets – Michael Carter was drafted by the New York Jets with the 107th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. As a running back with North Carolina University this 5’8”, 201-pound prospect has speed, strength, and pass-catching ability.
Carter attended Navarre High School in Navarre, Florida. In the third game of his junior year, he suffered a season ending injury. At that point, he had nine touchdowns and 526 yards. As a senior, he rushed for 2,536 yards and 3,345 yards overall with 45 touchdowns combined. USA Today named him the “Florida Offensive Player of the Year.” Carter had offers from Florida and a few other big universities, but he chose North Carolina.
In his freshman season in college, Carter had 559 yards and eight touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 559 rushing yards and 135 through the air with three touchdowns. He wasn’t the feature back during his time there.
His junior year was terrific. He rushed for 1,003 yards and caught 154 more with five touchdowns combined. Heading into his senior season, he was on the Doak Walker Award and Paul Hornung Award watch lists during the preseason.
Carter’s season ended with 1,245 yards, with nine rushing touchdowns with 267 yards through the air with two more scores. During a game against Miami, he and Javonte Williams, the team’s lead back, combined for 544 rushing yards, an NCAA record. He was ready for the NFL Draft.
At a North Carolina pro day, Carter ran a 4.5 40-yard dash and showed off a 34.0 vertical jump. Everything was pointing for him being drafted in the first three rounds, but that didn’t happen.
Carter has been the Jets’ feature back. He has 331 combined yards and a 3.5 yards per carry average. He has two touchdowns on the season and has gotten better each week.

His 2021 Panini Origins Auto Rookie Card shows him in his green Jets gear, running with the football. His uniform number is 00, not his 32, so that’s noticeable.
