NFL Future Watch: Trey McBride Football Cards, Arizona Cardinals – Trey McBride was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 55th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. This 6’3”, the 249-pound tight end was a multi-sport athlete proving some of the best athletes in the world play in the NFL.

McBride first made a name for himself at Fort Morgan High School in Fort Morgan Colorado. At that time, McBride played football, basketball, and baseball. As a senior, he rushed for 226 yards and caught 30 passes for 450 yards and four touchdowns. He played some defense as well, recording 40 tackles and a sack. After setting some school records in baseball and basketball, he chose football at Colorado State University.

McBride played in all 12 games in his freshman season. He didn’t play a lot, but he did manage to catch seven passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.

In his sophomore season, the tight end had 45 receptions for 560 yards and four touchdowns. McBride had his first 100-yard game against Boise State. He was selected for the First-Team All-Mountain West.

In 2020, during a pandemic-shortened season, McBride caught 22 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns in four games. Pro Football Focus voted him an All-American honorable mention.

Before the start of the 2021 season, McBride was on the watchlist for four trophies. This tight end had six 100-yard games. He played 12 in total. For the second time, he was named to the first team, All-Mountain West Conference. He also won the 2021 Mackey Award and four other All-American teams. He was the first unanimous All-American in the history of the program.

McBride was ready for the NFL Combine. This freak of nature ran a 4.56 in the 40-yard dash. His 33-inch vertical leap and 18 reps on the weight bench were impressive.

McBride had a nice rookie season in the NFL. He had 29 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown. There was some turmoil with the team, so this turned out to be a decent season for him.
