NFL Future Watch: Tyrone Tracy Jr. Football Cards, New York Giants – The New York Giants drafted Tyrone Tracy Jr in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He attended Decatur Central in Indianapolis. As a senior, he rushed for 1,412 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a receiver, he caught 54 passes for 1,132 yards and 16 more touchdowns. He committed to the University of Iowa.
As a freshman, he had 36 receptions for 589 yards, three touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown. This was an excellent season as a wide receiver.
In 2020, his sophomore season, he had 14 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown. Even in a tough pandemic-shortened season, he was developing.
In 2021, the talented wide receiver had 15 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown. Then he entered the transfer portal probably to have more of an impact. He chose Purdue.
In 2022, Tracy had 17 rushes for 138 yards. He added 38 receptions for 198 yards. Then he became a full-time running back. That would change his career arc forever.
In 2023, he had 113 carries for 716 yards and eight touchdowns. That was a great year, and he was named Third-Team All-Big Ten. Then he declared for the NFL Draft. At that point, he didn’t have a lot of mileage on him as a running back, a plus.
At the 2024 NFL Combine, Tracy ran a 4.48 40-yard dash and showed off a 40.0” vertical leap. Teams knew he could catch, and as a running back was moving up teams’ boards.
Tracy had to wait his turn with the Giants. There was an injury in Week 5, and he got his first NFL start against the Seattle Seahawks. He had 18 carries for 129 yards, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He’s off and running. So far this season, he has 151 rushes for 695 yards and five touchdowns on a bad team. He’s having a solid rookie season and is a must collect.
