Lundell Young GunsNHL Future Watch: Anton Lundell Hockey Cards, Florida Panthers – Anton Lundell was drafted 12 overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2020 NHL Draft. There was some question if he could score goals heading into the draft, so the center dropped a few spots, and the Florida Panthers made out like bandits.

During the 2017-18 season Team Finland struck gold at the U18s. Lundell had two goals and two assists in five games. That’s when his game was starting to emerge.

In 2018-19, he worked his way up to Liga. Now playing for HIFK, the prospect potted nine goals and 19 points in the regular season. He also got 12 postseason games under his belt. During the middle of the season, he got a chance to play in the U20s and had a goal and three assists in seven games. He was voted a Top 3 player on the team and won a gold medal as well.

In 2020, he got hurt and didn’t participate in the U20 World Junior Championship. During that regular season, the pivot scored 10 goals with 28 points in 44 games. That left some scouts wanting more.

Lundell’s father was a goalie and taught him how to read them. He assured me he would score more goals because he didn’t shoot enough. That’s exactly what happened in 2020-21 when he scored 16 goals in 26 games. During that season, he starred in the World Juniors scoring six goals and 10 points in seven games. He took home a bronze medal.

2021-22 was his rookie season. He scored 17 of his 18 goals at 5-on-5 and had four game-winning goals. On the penalty kill, he was one of the best players on the team.
