NHL Future Watch: Braden Schneider Hockey Cards, New York Rangers – Braden Schneider was drafted by the New York Rangers as the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. A 6’2” defenseman already at 200 pounds is enticing for any team. The Rangers, who had some young defensemen already in their system, jumped at the chance.
By 2017-18, Schneider was playing full-time for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL. The blueliner scored 22 points in 66 games. He got in 11 playoff games as well.
In 2018-19, he scored eight goals and 24 points in 58 games. His offense was already picking up, and his defense and physicality were already two of his biggest selling points.
In 2019-20, his draft year, Schneider had seven goals and 35 assists in 60 games. At that point, the scouts were aware of him. It was just a matter of where he would land in the first round.
In 2021-22, Schneider played for the Hartford Wolf Pack the Rangers’ AHL affiliate. In 24 games, he had nine points. Then opportunity knocked at the NHL level. He took advantage of that. Willing to play any role, he played in 43 games and had 11 points. Because the all-around game was so strong, he was on the postseason roster and had three points in 20 games. The experience was massive for him.
Schneider told me at the Upper Deck/NHLPA Rookie Photo Showcase that he wasn’t taking it for granted that he had an automatic spot in the Rangers’ starting lineup. He worked hard and was rewarded with the word that he made the opening night roster. Schneider had a good first game, and he will have a terrific 
season. His offense will start to come out as he gets more opportunities. Considering the player is just 21, I think he’s very collectible.

One card to get is Schneider’s 2022-23 Upper Deck MVP Rookie. It’s a well-designed card with a photo that shows him waiting for the opponent to advance toward him.
Another cool card is his 2021-22 Upper Deck AHL Star Rookies Autograph. It’s harder to find card of him in his Wolf Pack gear. His autograph is unique.
His 2021-22 Upper Deck Team Canada Juniors Exclusives Card. The card has a piece of the jersey of Hockey Canada, and the card is serial-numbered to 250. I say get limited cards of him before he becomes a bigger name in the league.
