NHL Future Watch: Jan Jenik Hockey Cards, Arizona Coyotes – Jan Jenik was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes with the 65th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. He’s from Czechia, a country where hockey is certainly on the rise. Jenik could soon be another high-profile player.
Jenik was playing in Czechia until the 2018-19 season. He was learning to play against men in some cases. That served him well when he decided to play for the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2018-19. In 27 games, he had 13 goals and 30 points. During that season, Jenik had two points in three games in the U20 World Junior Championship. He appeared on my radar then because he was terrific against tough competition. He won a silver medal the year before in the Hlinka Gretzky tournament.
In 2019-20, Jenik impressed the Coyotes organization with his big season with Hamilton. In a pandemic shortened season, he scored 22 goals in 27 games. His 30 points overall in 27 games was solid. Jenik added one postseason point in two games as well. It was a good year of development, albeit in a shortened season.
In 2020, when many leagues were shut down because of the pandemic, Jenik played in seven games in Finland. He produced eight points in seven games. Then he had a chance to play in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners. During his time there, he had six goals and 14 points in 29 games. In his NHL debut he scored two goals in two games. Jenik finished out the season with one playoff game where he scored a goal.
Jenik played most of 2021-22 with Tucson. Still just 21, he had 17 goals and 47 points in 51 games. He was second on the team in scoring. He did get another 13 games in the NHL. The winger scored three points.
Jenik can score goals. His stick and puck control and his edge work are what get him in scoring position. He’s tricky down low and he can include his teammates in big scoring chances.

A great card to shoot for is his 2021-22 Upper Deck Black Diamond Debut Patch Auto. These are colorful cards, and his signature is unique.
His 2021-22 Upper Deck MVP Rookie Card is fun because he’s high fiving the bench after a goal. He will get more of them in the future.
