NHL Future Watch: Jansen Harkins Hockey Cards, Winnipeg JetsNHL Future Watch: Jansen Harkins Hockey Cards, Winnipeg Jets – Jansen Harkins was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the 47th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. At the age of 24, he’s hasn’t even played a full NHL season’s worth of games. The Jets have a coach that’s hard on young talent, and that could be a reason he hasn’t become a regular until now. He is finally a full time NHLer.

Harkins played four full seasons with the Prince George Cougars in the WHL. In 275 games there, he scored 75 goals with 167 assists. Those are solid numbers for the playmaking center who does have a goal scorer’s touch. During his time there he played in the CHL Top Prospects Game and won a gold medal in the Hlinka tournament. Everything was trending the right way for this player.

His father Todd had an NHL career in the ’90s. He also played the center position. There was no way that Harkins was ever going to let his NHL dreams get derailed.

Harkins played at the tail end of the Manitoba Moose seasons while he was still in the WHL. He got some postseason games in, and all of that should have helped him develop.

In 2017-18, he was sent to the ECHL to play for the Jacksonville IceMen. That may have been the wakeup call he needed. The following season, Harkins had 15 goals and 31 points back with the Moose.

In 2019-20, he split time between the NHL with the Jets and the AHL. In the AHL he had 31 points in 30 games and was an All-Star. With the Jets, Harkins scored his first playoff goal, and things were trending up.

2020-21 was a weird season for a lot of young players. Playing in 26 NHL games helped his all-around game. He has good speed, great hands, and a wrist shot that goes top shelf with great ease. With more playing time in 2021-22, Harkins will get career high numbers as he develops.

The first card of Harkins to collect is his 2020-21 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Rookie Card. It’s a solid action shot.

The 2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Teal Rookie Card is very innovative. The design is top-notch, and the third jersey shot is cool. That’s always appreciated.

The last card is a classic. His 2020-21 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee Rookie Card has yet another jersey shot. This time the classic blue that we see a lot of. Jansen Harkins is a player that’s worth taking a chance on.
