In 2022-23, he joined the Guelph Storm. As a young prospect, he didn’t put up big numbers. Luchanko had five goals and nine assists in 46 games. He added one point in six playoff games. This was a great experience for the young pivot. He won a silver medal playing in the U17s for Team Canada. Luchanko had two points in seven games. Porter Martone and Michael Misa, top draft picks for 2025, were his teammates.
2023-24, was a big year of development. In 68 games, he had 20 goals and 54 assists. In an already solid year, Luchanko added three points in four playoff games. He solidified a strong draft position with the season. At season’s end, he won the William Hanley Trophy for being the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the OHL. During the U18 Worlds, he had seven points in seven games representing Canada, who won the gold medal.
At Flyers’ development camp, Luchanko showed improvement from Rookie Camp. He had more confidence and more muscle. He was a real threat to make the team at the age of 18. Still, he played in the preseason, and in four regular season games with the Flyers he didn’t score a point, though it fueled his season. He became the captain of Guelph and scored 15 goals with 27 assists in his first 31 games. Those are amazing numbers since the team isn’t very good. He represented Canada in the World Juniors in Ottawa adding a goal in five games.
