NHL Future Watch: Mavrik Bourque Hockey Cards, Dallas Stars – The Dallas Stars drafted Mavrik Bourque30th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. The Stars found this gem of a forward during the pandemic, and he will make a big impact for them.
In 2018-19, he played for Shawinigan in the QMJHL. In 64 games, he had 25 goals and 29 assists. Bourque added two goals and five assists in six postseason games.
The next season, his offense improved to the tune of 29 goals and 42 assists in just 49 games. Bourque didn’t get to partake in the playoffs that season, nobody did.
In 2020-21, he played in an abbreviated season scoring 19 goals and 24 assists in 28 games. Bourque had four goals and two assists in five playoff games. Then he turned professional and played six games for the Texas Stars in the AHL. He scored a goal and four assists. He was ready for a bigger challenge.
In 2021-22, he played in 31 games and was the team captain. Bourque had 20 goals and 48 assists during that season. The season was shortened and the center battled jaw and shoulder issues. He shined in the postseason, scoring nine goals with 16 assists in just 16 games.
In 2022-23, he played for the Texas Stars full time. He scored 20 goals and 27 assists in 70 games. In the playoffs, Bourque had a goal and three assists in eight games. Bourque has a very good all-around game, good speed, and plays bigger than his 5’11” frame. That’s why he was one of the Stars’ top prospects.
In 2023-24, he played mostly for the Texas Stars and got in a few games in Dallas, one in the regular season and one in the playoffs. With Texas, he had 26 goals and 51 assists in 71 games. Bourque had 11 points in seven playoff games.
2024-25, was a breakthrough year for the prospect. With Dallas, Bourque had 11 goals and 14 assists in 73 games. He was scoreless in three playoff games, but he’s just 23 and gaining experience. He is a must collect.
