NHL Future Watch: Oliver Kapanen Hockey Cards, Montreal Canadiens NHL Future Watch: Oliver Kapanen Hockey Cards, Montreal Canadiens – The Montreal Canadiens drafted Oliver Kapanen 64th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. The talented forward has hockey in his blood. His uncle Sami had a nice NHL career, and his cousin Kasperi is playing for the Edmonton Oilers.

Things started to pick up for Kapanen in 2022-23 while in Liiga. He had 12 goals and 15 assists in 55 games. He scored a point in seven playoff games. During the season, he represented Finland for the second time in the World Juniors netting two goals with one assist in five games. Kapanen won a silver medal the year before but didn’t get one the second time there.

The next season the Finnish prospect improved his numbers in the same league. He had 14 goals and 20 assists in 51 games and was more of a factor in the postseason too. Kapanen had seven goals and seven assists in 13 games played.

In 2024-25, he started the season in Montreal. He had just two assists in 12 games. Montreal made a smart move and loaned him to Timra IK in the SHL. In 36 games, Kapanen had 15 goals and 20 assists. He added three points in six playoff games and then came back to North America. Then he played in six more games with Montreal. We shall see if he gets utilized in the playoffs.

NHL Future Watch: Oliver Kapanen Hockey Cards, Montreal Canadiens Kapanen has good hands. His stickwork is good and his weave gets him past defenders. His skating is good, particularly his edgework. He plays the give-n-go well and isn’t afraid to go to the net with speed. This 21-year-old center is a must collect because he’s likely to have a spot in Montreal when next season begins.

One card to get is Kapanen’s 2024-25 Upper Deck  Series 2 Young Guns Rookie. He is shown in his Canadiens sweater in a nice action shot.

The next card to look for is his 2024-25 Upper Deck Series 2 Young Guns Canvas Rookie. The photo is different. It looks like him coming through the tunnel on the ice to take part in warmups.

The last card is the Red Outburst card numbered to just 25. It’s a great color match and stands on its own as a high-tech card.
