In 2016-17, he played in the NAHL for the Brookings Blizzard. Cotter had 28 goals and 32 assists in 59 games. Then he added two points in five playoff games. This helped him get more notice.
In 2017-18, I saw him play for the Lincoln Stars in the USHL. He scored 18 goals with 21 assists in 51 games. Cotter added eight points in seven playoff games.
In 2018-19, he settled in playing for the London Knights. He scored nine goals and had 17 assists in 48 games, though in 11 games he didn’t get on the scoreboard.
In 2019-20, the forward turned pro to play for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. In 56 games, Cotter scored nine points.
Then, in 2020-21, he played for the Henderson Silver Knights, still in the AHL. Cotter had five goals and 11 assists in 38 games. He added a point in four playoff games.
In 2021-22, he played mostly for Henderson, scoring 19 goals in 59 games for them. Then he was elevated to Vegas and scored his first two NHL goals in seven games. Cotter later played in the playoffs for Henderson, getting two points in two playoff games.
By 2022-23, he was in the NHL playing for the Vegas Golden Knights. In 55 games, he had 13 goals and five assists. He proved what he always was at heart, a goal scorer.
In 2024-25, he’s a starter for the Devils and has four goals and an assist in his first six games.

One card to get is Cotter’s 2021-22 SP Authentic Future Watch Rookie serial-numbered to 499. It’s got a nice on-card autograph in his Vegas gear.
The next fabulous card is his 2021-22 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Violet Pixels Rookie. This bold, sparkly card has a great on-card autograph.
The last card to get is probably the best his 2021-22 Upper Deck Extended Series Young Guns Rookie. It’s a great card of a player who may be hitting his stride in the NHL. Keep him on your list.
