NHL Future Watch: Ryan McLeod Hockey Cards, Edmonton OilersNHL Future Watch: Ryan McLeod Hockey Cards, Edmonton Oilers – Ryan McLeod was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers with the 40th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. A 6’3”, over 200-pound center, this prospect may soon get more playing time with the Oilers. This preseason, look for McLeod to have his chance to play with the stars and shine in his own right.

McLeod played 3 ½ seasons for his hometown Mississauga Steelheads. His last two seasons there he wore the “A”. The pivot had 54 goals and several assists.

In 2018-19, he was traded to the Saginaw Spirit and had 24 points in 31 games plus 12 points in 17 playoff games. When that season ended, he turned pro and joined the Bakersfield Condors for a short playoff run in the AHL. It was a good year of development.

In 2019-20, McLeod played 56 games for Bakersfield and scored five goals with 18 helpers. One of the fastest players in his draft class, he can jet into the offensive zone to score on a wraparound or hard wrist shot. His speed can be a weapon at the NHL level.

During the pandemic, McLeod played in Switzerland, the NHL, and AHL. He scored 18 goals in all. Even though he’s a center, he can be as much of a goal scorer as many wingers are.

NHL Future Watch: Ryan McLeod Hockey Cards, Edmonton Oilers – Cards to Chase

NHL Future Watch: Ryan McLeod Hockey Cards, Edmonton OilersFans and collectors will like McLeod. He just turned 22, so he has a solid career ahead of him. He’s not behind schedule at all, and the Oilers deserve some credit for that.

Collectors should chase his 2020-21 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns rookie card. The action shot shows him looking around before he takes a face-off.

Another solid rookie is from  2020-21 Upper Deck Allure. It’s an autographed card that comes in some color variations. I love the way his “bucket” doesn’t fit just right. It makes you wonder why. Did he borrow it when he got called up?

One last card that has a unique look is his 2020-21 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee Marque Rookie found in Upper Deck Series 2 with the O-Pee-Chee Updates. The design is clean, and the Oilers jersey looks sharp with the classic logo that pops. Look for McLeod to make Edmonton his permanent residence in the next few seasons.
