NHL Future Watch: Seamus Casey Hockey Cards, New Jersey Devils NHL Future Watch: Seamus Casey Hockey Cards, New Jersey Devils – The New Jersey Devils drafted Seamus Casey with the 46th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. They were able to draft a well-trained, slick-skating, offensive defenseman at that point in the draft because he’s 5’10”. Some teams won’t draft that type of defenseman, but New Jersey did, and they’re pleased as punch with the prospect.

In 2020-21, Casey played for the NTDP. He was a star on the U17 team, where he put up 36 points in 48 games. Eight were goals, making him the top-scoring defenseman on his team.

In 2021-22, he played for the U18 team where he scored 33 points in 48 games. Casey scored 10 goals and was the second-best scoring defenseman on the team. Lane Hutson, who is having a banner rookie season in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens was the top-scoring defenseman on the team. Casey played in the U18 Worlds where he scored three points in six games going home with a silver medal.

The Florida native attended the University of Michigan in 2022-23. In 37 games, he scored eight goals with 21 assists. He was named to the B1G All-Rookie Team and was a B1G Champion.

In 2023-24, he had his finest season. The young defenseman scored seven goals with 38 assists in 40 games. During the season, he represented Team USA in the U20 World Junior Championship and put up six points in six games. He was a First-Team All-American plus the NCAA B1G All-Tournament Team.

NHL Future Watch: Seamus Casey Hockey Cards, New Jersey Devils In 2024-25, Casey played in the AHL for the Utica Devils and got in some games in New Jersey as well. For his first 22 games with Utica, he scored three goals with 12 assists. In a hard league like the AHL that’s solid. In the NHL, he played in 10 games and had four goals and an assist. He will get more games in New Jersey, for sure. They could come this season or next.

One card to get is Casey’s 2024-25 O-Pee-Chee Premier Rainbow Rookie. The photo is an action shot that works well with the design.

Another card is his 2024-25 Upper Deck SP Authentics Blue Base. He’s wearing Devil’s white, and the photo is a good one.

The last card is his 2024-25 O-Pee-Chee Black Rookie Rainbow. Again, a solid card with a nice design. He is a must-collect because of his offensive talent.
