NHL Future Watch: Shane Bowers Hockey Cards, Colorado AvalancheNHL Future Watch: Shane Bowers Hockey Cards, Colorado Avalanche – Shane Bowers could be a hidden asset for the Avalanche. Bowers was drafted by the Ottawa Senators with the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. This center has 200-foot talent, and it’s always been a matter of when he put it all together.

It started back in the USHL.While playing for the Waterloo Blackhawks, he scored 84 points in 116 games. Bowers has good size, at 6’2”, 185 pounds, and he has hustle. At that time in his career, he was playing center. That position comes with a lot of defensive responsibilities. That can sometimes take away from a player’s offense if they’re not a natural playmaker.

In two seasons at Boston University from 2017-2019, Bowers had 28 goals and 25 assists. During that time, he was voted on the All-Rookie Team in Hockey East, also was an honorable mention All-Star and a Hockey East champion. Things couldn’t have gone much better for the Halifax, Nova Scotia native.

During his time in college, Bowers was a key piece in the Matt Duchene trade in 2017. Now he was in an organization that had a deep system, flush with centers at the NHL level.

Bowers played well internationally as a part of Team Canada in the 2019 World Junior Championship. In 2019-20, Bowers played full time for the Colorado Eagles, where he scored ten goals. The next season, the forward did play during the pandemic. In 28 games, he scored seven goals. Bowers was third on the team in goals, on a team loaded with centers.

When rookie camp opened for the Colorado Avalanche ahead of the 2021-22 season, Bowers played on the wing. Now with other playmakers, he scored two goals from that position. Being on the wing frees him up offensively and lets him be creative around the net.

Collectors can get a rookie card of his in 2020-21 Upper Deck Allure. The red rainbow rookie is a tremendous short print.

Bowers’s Young Guns rookie is in 2020-21 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. It features a great shot of him in an Avs jersey.

One last grab could be his 2020-21 Upper Deck Obsidian jersey rookie card. The card design is impressive. He is shown again in his Avs gear, though he hasn’t played in an NHL game to date. That’s expected to change this season.
