NHL Future Watch: Tim Stützle Hockey Cards, Ottawa SenatorsNHL Future Watch: Tim Stützle Hockey Cards, Ottawa SenatorsTim Stützle has unlimited potential on the ice.

Stützle was drafted by the Ottawa Senators with the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. This German has a multitude of ways that he can impact a game, and like any other developing prospect, his environment can affect his development. At just 19-years-old, his path to the NHL has been interesting.

The Adler Manheim standout was a star early on. In 2017-18, he had 47 points in 25 games while playing up an age group with the U19 team.

Stützle did the same in 2018-19, while with the U20 team. He had 23 goals in 21 games and 55 points. In the World Junior Championship, he had 9 points in 5 games for the German team.

In 2019-20, he played with the men in the DEL, the equivalent of the American Hockey League. Stützle had 34 points in 41 games. On his second World Junior team, he had 5 points in 5 games. When he played against his peer group, he had an obvious edge.

Stützle has two skills that set him apart, his vision and the way he can lull a defender into thinking he’s contained. Then he finds another gear to get past them. When he is around the net, his elite hands are apparent, as well.

Trying to develop during a pandemic wasn’t easy for him. During the 2020-21 season, the German started a bit slow. Ten of his teammates were in Covid protocol, and then the NHL finally stepped in and postponed three of their games. All of this, and a meager 56-game system aren’t enough games for a 19-year-old to learn as quickly as the Senators had hoped.

While Ottawa needs to improve as a team, things should get better as the season goes on. Stützle will have to be patient.

One card to collect is Stützle’s 2020-21 Upper Deck Series 2 Young Guns Rookie Card. It’s a nice action photo of him in his black sweater.

Another great card is the 2020-21 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Marquee Rookie Card. It shows him skating in his white uniform. You can see a look of determination on his face.

Stützle’s 2020-21 Skybox Metal Universe Rookie Card is one more fun card. It’s a classic design for a potential future NHL superstar.
