Zdeno Chara was drafted in 1996. H was selected the third round with the 56th overall pick by the New York Islanders. He made his NHL debut during the 1997-98 season and played in 25 games. Chara played four seasons for the Islanders before he was traded to the Ottawa Senators. He grew considerably as a player for the Senators, developing into a strong two-way defenceman. Chara would play four seasons for the Senators from 2001-2006 before signing with Boston for the 2006-07 season.
