Off The Post: Connor McDavid Hockey Cards, 500 points, Edmonton Oilers – In the latest edition of Off The Post, Connor McDavid speaks about achieving the 500 point milestone!

McDavid,  picked up point number 500 (and 501) as assists amid an Edmonton Oilers victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, February 17, 2021

The points from McDavid continue his incredible count this year which, as of February 18, 2021, sits at 32 points, four ahead of teammate and 2019-20 scoring champion Leon Draisaitl. The pair’s play has helped the Oilers sit third in the NHL’s North Division.

McDavid’s dominance since arriving in the NHL has been absolutely incredible. Through his first five seasons of play, McDavid counted two Art Ross Trophies as the regular season point leader and has been named the recipient of the Hart Trophy (MVP) once and Ted Lindsay Award (MVP as voted by the NHLPA) twice. He has been a fixture in Upper Deck Hockey products and often the cover player on boxes and pack wrappers. His standing overall in the hobby has reached levels akin to Sidney Crosby. McDavid’s rookie cards are considered holy grail items for hockey collectors today, highlighted by his Young Gun, SP Authentic and The Cup RCs.

McDavid, however, would trade all those individual accolades in a heartbeat for the Stanley Cup. The 2019-20 season was only the second time McDavid has reached the NHL playoffs. Through 17 postseason games played, the Richmond Hill, ON native has counted 18 points and is leading his club by example

What does the future hold for McDavid, who reached the 500-point milestone in the eighth fewest games in league history? Only time knows for certain; but if he stays healthy, more milestones will soon be met, including his membership in the celebrated 1,000 point club.
