Off the Post: Kings Earn Shootout Win in Philly, Austin Wagner Interview – On Thursday, February 7th, 2019, the Los Angeles Kings won a hard fought battle against the Philadelphia Flyers. When the horn rang after the conclusion of the third period, both teams were tied 2-2. The Kings prevailed in the shootout and took home a 3-2 win. Rookie left winger Austin Wagner scored a goal in the game and afterwards he spoke with Russ Cohen.

Austin Wagner was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1997. He began his amateur career playing for the Regina Pats. Wagner had an incredible second season with the Pats, scoring 39 points in 61 games. At the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected with the 99th overall pick by the Los Angeles Kings. Wagner attended training camp for the Kings, but returned to the Pats for the 2015-16 season. That year, he scored 62 points in 70 games.

Wagner continued his progress as a prospect in 2016-17 where he set new career highs in goals and assists. He suffered a shoulder/bicep injury prior to the 2017-18 season, and would make his NHL debut in the 2018-19 season. His debut came on October 5th, 2018. He would scored his first NHL goal on November 21st, 2018 in a loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
