The 5-foot-9, 182-pound Rossi has flashed his offensive prowess during his days in the OHL with the Ottawa 67’s and in the AHL with the Iowa Wild over the past few years. With the 67’s during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, Rossi netted 68 goals and dished out 117 assists (185 points) in 109 games.
In February 2021, Rossi left Wild training camp due to complications from COVID-19. He was diagnosed with myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle. Rossi tested positive for COVID in November 2020 and after he left Wild camp a few months later, he returned home to Austria for five months to recover.
Following his recovery, Rossi was assigned to Iowa where he played in 63 games and recorded 18 goals and 35 assists. He also appeared in two NHL games for the Wild last season.
Currently in his rookie season with the Wild, the 21-year old Rossi has registered one assist in 10 games. In this clip, captured by our own Russ Cohen at the 2022 NHLPA Rookie Showcase, Rossi talked about his health issues from COVID-19, rehab and getting an opportunity to play in the NHL.
