Off The Post: P.K. Subban Hockey Cards, New Jersey Devils – In the latest edition of Off The Post, former Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban speaks with media in advance of the NHL season.

Subban is entering his second season with the Devils after being sent to Jersey in the 2019 offseason. In his first season in the black and red, Subban counted seven goals and 11 assists in 68 games. The Devils missed the playoffs, leaving Subban on the sidelines during postseason play for only the third time in his 10 full years in the NHL

Subban’s pro career started in 2009-10, spending the majority of the campaign with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs. He got into two regular season games with the Montreal Canadiens, the team that drafted him in 2007, and eventually gained a spot with the club for their playoff campaign. Subban shone in that postseason, counting eight points in 14 games.

Subban’s time in Montreal saw an incredible upward progression. After collecting the Norris Trophy in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 NHL season, the Toronto native amassed three straight seasons of plus-50 points, capped by 60 points (15 goals, 45 assists) in 2014-15. Following the 2015-16 campaign, however, Subban was sent to Nashville in a blockbuster trade that saw the Habs get Shea Weber in return.

The highlight of Subban’s time in Nashville, unquestionably, was helping the team reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. The following season, Subban attained his highest NHL goal output16 goals over 82 games

Subban’s profile outside the rink has made him as attractive to fans and collectors as his play. One of the most philanthropic players across the league, Subban has been on a campaign to raise $10 million for the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He also built the Blue Line Buddies program (first in Nashville and ported to New Jersey after his trade), where police officers and inner-city youth, along with guests, attend an NHL game together as a means of building better relations between the two communities.

Subban collectors got their first crack at his cardboard during his days with the OHL’s Belleville Bulls thanks to In The Game. His rookie cards came in 2010-11 sets and ever since he has been a staple in products, including the upcoming 2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts set that will release shortly.
