Off the Post: Penguins Seal Up First Round Series With 8-5 Win On Sunday, Kris Letang Post Game Comments – The Pittsburgh Penguins got one step closer on the road to defending their Stanley Cup title when they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon. Philadelphia matched Pittsburgh with two goals in each of the first two periods, but the Penguins hung four on the Flyers in the third while holding them to one goal to finish with an 8-5 win. Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang was crucial in the win, handing out three assists in a team leading 25:33 of ice time. He spoke with Russ Cohen after the game.

Letang was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (62nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Penguins in the 2006-07 season. He scored two goals in his first seven games, but spent most of that season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Letang returned to the Penguins during the 2007-08 season and would hold his place on the team’s blue line until today. You can find his rookie cards in 2006-07 Hockey products from Upper Deck. This was also during a time when other companies held NHL licenses.

The Penguins are an absolute force in the NHL and Kris Letang is a key piece to their success. In addition to three Stanley Cups, Letang has made four NHL All-Star game appearances. 2017-18 Upper Deck Hockey products do a fine job celebrating Letang and the Penguins’ recent Stanley Cup wins. You can find his “Day With the CupSP insert in Series 2. Look for plenty of colored parallels featuring Letang in 2017-18 O-Pee-Chee and O-Pee-Chee Platinum.
