At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Byfield possesses intimidating size, as well as a well-refined game that continues to develop. Even though his career hasn’t gotten off to a fast start and he’s battled injuries, there’s still a lot of optimism regarding Byfield’s upside and what he could become.

Byfield made his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season after he showed his promise at the AHL level with the Ontario Reign. During his time with the Reign, Byfield registered eight goals and 12 assists (20 points) in 32 games. However, Byfield recorded only one assist in six games with the Kings.

Big things were expected from Byfield during the 2021-22 season, but he injured his ankle in the preseason, which kept him out of the lineup until January 2022. He returned with the Reign for 11 games before he made his season debut with the Kings. Byfield managed to play in 40 games, but only contributed five goals and five assists.

This season started out the same as last season for the 20-year-old Byfield. He dealt with an injury and started the season with the Reign. However, he was recalled by the Kings in December and has played in 21 games thus far, and has recorded two goals and six assists. One of those assists came in a recent Kings 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Byfield’s official NHL rookie cards can be found in 2021-22 Upper Deck hockey card products. In addition to his rookie cards, Byfield also has CHL and AHL cards starting during the 2018-19 season.
