Brent Burns, Defenseman – San Jose Sharks

The Ontario native was drafted by the Minnesota Wild with the 20th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He mostly played as a right winger in the OHL before switching to defenseman when he joined the Wild in 2003. He made his NHL debut on October 8th, 2003. He scored his first NHL goal in his third game against his future team the San Jose Sharks. Collectors looking for Burns’ rookie cards can find them in 2003-04 Upper Deck Hockey sets. This was during a time when multiple manufacturers held an NHL license including Pacific and Topps. Look for his Young Guns rookie card in 2003-04 Upper Deck Hockey.

Burns was traded to the San Jose Sharks during the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Shortly after the trade, he signed a five-year contract extension with the Sharks and has remained with the team ever since. With San Jose, he has five All-Star appearances and has played in 82 games for five straight seasons. He’s been incredibly durable and a fan favorite. As a fan favorite, you can expect to find Brent Burns in many 2019-20 Upper Deck Hockey products including Trilogy, MVP, O-Pee-Chee Platinum and many more!
