Off The Post: Sean Courturier, Philadelphia Flyers – In the latest edition of Off The Post, Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy Winner Sean Courturier speaks with hockey media after the exciting announcement was made!

Couturier was named the winner of the Selke, which recognizes the leagues best defensive forward, on the strength of an incredible regular season with the Philadelphia Flyers. Couturier led the NHL in faceoff-winning percentage at 59.6%, while amassing 59 points (22 goals, 37 assists) in 69 regular season contests. He then went on to record nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 15 playoff games. Couturier also posted a +21 plus-minus rating while amassing a mere 30 PIM

Couturier broke into the NHL with the Flyers during the 2011-12 NHL season, putting up 27 points in 77 games. His output has grown considerably over the years, particularly in 2017-18 and 2018-19 where he had back-to-back 76-point campaigns with 30-plus goals each time. In nine seasons of hockey with Philadelphia, Couturier has 402 points in 647 games, including 156 goals and 246 assists.

With good reason, the Flyers have held tight to Couturier who has become a heralded leader of the team. All this comes after Philly originally drafted Phoenix, AZborn center back in 2011 with the eighth overall selection.

Hockey collectors have become particularly attentive to Couturier. An annual inclusion in sets like MVP, O-Pee-Chee and the Upper Deck base brand, Couturier has over 1170 cards indexed by Beckett thus far, a number that will definitely grow as the last couple 2019-20 sets come out, along with more 2020-21 series! With a variety of autographs, limited cards and other goodies available, this Flyer forward, who has also been seen having success on the international stage, is sure to continue as a hobby favorite, particularly now that there will be Selke Trophy winner cards printed.

Congratulations Sean Couturier!
