Off the Post: Senators Rookie Filip Chlapik Scores 2nd NHL Goal – Ottawa Senators rookie Filip Chlapik had a long day but got to play against the Flyers. Even though his team lost 3-2, he netted his 2nd NHL goal.
Filip Chlapik was born in Prague, Czech Republic in 1997. He was drafted by the Charlottetown Islanders with the 11th overall pick in the 2014 CHL Import Draft. In his first CHL season, he was selected to take part in the 2015 CHL/NHL Top Prospects game. After tying the league lead in both rookie goals and power play goals, he was named to the 2014-15 QMJHL All-Rookie Team.
Chlapik would sign an entry level contract with the Ottawa Senators in December 2016. He was assigned to the Belleville Senators of the ANHL. Chlapik would make his NHL debut on October 26th, 2017 in a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. He would scored his first NHL point in that game. So far this season, Chlapik has spent most of his time with the Belleville Senators. He was called up briefly in October and multiple times over the winter in December and January. He was most recently called up on March 19th. He would score his first NHL goal on March 22nd.
