Panini Signs QB Marcus Mariota To Autograph Trading-Card Deal

Sports Business Daily has reported that Panini America has signed the 2014-15 Heisman Trophy winner, Marcus Mariota to a contract for autographed trading cards. Included in the agreement are rights to use Mariota’s image on product packaging. His first appearance will be utilized on the company’s first collegiate licensed trading card product, Contenders Draft Picks.

The release of the set is ideally timed to coincide with the 2015 NFL Draft. The first NFL cards with rookies including Mariota will ship June 17. Panini has acquired a multiyear exclusive collegiate trading card license with the CLC that begins on April 1. Earlier this year, Panini also signed an exclusive multiyear agreement with Mariota’s alma mater, the Univ. of Oregon.
