Political Conventions Bring Attention to Decision 2016 – At first glance of this headline, your reaction might be, “Well of course, duh!” However, the actual election isn’t what we are talking about. The release of Decision 2016 Trading Cards earlier this year by Benchwarmer got some renewed interest and attention from mainstream media this past week.
Benchwarmer CEO, Brian Wallos, made the trip from Southern California, to witness firsthand the political process of nominating a presidential candidate. While attending the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, he had the opportunity to meet with noted collector and political journalist, Rick Klein of ABC News. (See video below.)
In addition, the highly respected political media entity, “The Atlantic” recently published a highly complimentary article about the revolutionary new product. The piece even includes many quotes from candidates and politicians appearing in the set.
An excerpt from the article reads as follows:
“Wallos’s Decision 2016 political trading-card set, released in mid-April, is perhaps the most ambitious and comprehensive effort to date for cable-news addicts who also grew up collecting baseball cards. Instead of documenting when a player was drafted in what round, Wallos reminds collectors of the exact moment each candidate dropped out of the race. And rather than commemorating highlights, like Derek Jeter’s 3,000th hit, Decision 2016 cards capture seminal moments, like Hillary Clinton facing tough questions at the Benghazi hearings and Pope Francis condemning Donald Trump’s views on immigration.”
The aforementioned interaction between Wallos and Kein was captured on video and posted on the ABC News website. Whenever, trading cards can garner this type of mainstream attention, it’s a good thing for the hobby. Kudos Brian!
