Product Rewind: 2012-13 Panini NBA Basketball Heating UpProduct Rewind: 2012-13 Panini NBA Basketball Heating Up – As we have mentioned before, basketball is unique among the four major sports. High draft picks in hockey and football often make their team’s opening day roster the season in which they were drafted. In baseball, a prospects early cards are typically their most valuable regardless of the lack of official rookie designation. But basketball and its small, 12-man roster can be a waiting game for players.

With many of the players from the 2012 NBA Draft just now entering their prime, collectors are going back to 2012-13 Panini NBA basketball products in droves looking for rookie cards of key players including Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Damian Lillard and Jimmy Butler.

Last night, Jimmy Butler delivered a 53-point performance against the Philadelphia 76’ers. The guard for the Chicago Bulls, in lieu of Derrick Rose being so injury prone, has emerged as the team’s star. He is just one example of patience truly being a virtue. This is true not only for him as a player but basketball card collectors as well.

The NBA’s 2015 Most Improved Player was selected with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. However, due to the league’s labor dispute, his official rookie cards debuted in 2012-13 Panini NBA basketball sets. While it is to be expected that Butler’s rookie cards from high-end products like Immaculate and National Treasures would be selling for a premium, his cards from less expensive products are also fairing well on the secondary market as evidenced by looking at recent eBay sales.
