Racing Future Watch: Colton Herta Racing Cards, IndyCar Racing Future Watch: Colton Herta Racing Cards, IndyCar – Colton Herta is still in hot pursuit of his initial NTT IndyCar Series championship. However, he is already being rumored getting a new Andretti Global seat in Formula 1 in 2026. Herta would qualify under FIA standards should he qualify in the top four in 2025. Considering he finished second in 2024 and third in 2020, it is completely possible. If that happens, Herta has indicated that he would have an outstanding, no-lose choice to make. This is indicative of a young man with a bright future ahead of him on whatever open-wheel path that he chooses.

The son of IndyCar and ChampCar driver Bryan Herta, he debuted racing karts in the SKUSA and IKF circuits in 2010. Single-seat racing followed three years later, with a second-place finish in the SBF2000 Winter Series.

2014 was a year of progression, with a pro debut in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship and an international formula racing debut at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia with the Meritus-run AsiaCup Series. Herta tallied a win and three podiums in that competition. Also, that year Herta became the youngest driver ever in the Global RallyCross Championship Lites.

Another accomplishment followed in 2015 as Herta became the youngest driver in the MSA Formula series. Herta’s win at Snetterton Circuit, the first of three on the season en route to a third-place finish, contributed to the US victory in the Nations Cup.

2016 continued the progression in the Euroformula Open Championship. He took four victories, six podiums, five pole positions and a third-place finish. In that same year, Herta notched three podiums in six British Formula 3 races.

In 2017, Herta pivoted to stateside racing in Indy Lights, finishing third and winning Rookie of the Year honors. Improvement followed the next year, with four wins, a second-place finish – and a debut at the IndyCar level.

Herta is haunted by how close that campaign came to a championship, with mishaps in four races and the knowledge that even one less of them could have resulted in championship glory. Wherever Herta’s journey goes beyond 2025, he is intensely determined to become an IndyCar series champion in this year.
